Podrhtavanja zabilje\u017eena u sije\u010dnju\u00a02010. godine i velja\u010di 2011. godine, i tragovi pepela u ledu ukazuju na to da je vulkan aktivan oko 8000 godina.<\/p>\n<p>Instrumenti su otkrili dva potresa u razmaku godine dana (2010. i 2011. godina) magnitude 0,8 i 2,1.<br \/>\nPodrhtavanja su se dogodila na dubinama izme\u0111u 25 i 40 km, u blizini granice izme\u0111u kore i pla\u0161ta (Mohorovi\u010di\u0107ev diskontinuitet). Dubine na kojima su se dogodili potresi i njihove niske frekvencije upu\u0107uju na tzv. Me\u0111utim, toplina iz vulkana mogla bi poja\u010dati topljenje u podno\u017eju ledenjaka, a otopljena voda u tom slu\u010daju djelovala bi kao lubrikant te bi gornji dio leda klizio br\u017ee prema moru.
