Novi ured, pod imenom <em>Planetary Defense Coordination Office (PDCO)<\/em>, ima zadatak objediniti sve ameri\u010dke programe usmjerene otkrivanju i pra\u0107enju asteroida i kometa koji sijeku Zemljinu putanju (eng. <em>near-Earth objects \u2013 NEOs<\/em>), kao i projekte kojima je cilj obrana od udara navedenih tijela u Zemljinu povr\u0161inu.<\/p>\n<p>\u201eU ovom trenutku ne raspola\u017eemo podacima o nikakvom tipu prijetnje. U potpunosti podupiremo sve napore na obrani na\u0161eg planeta od potencijalnih udara asteroida\u201d, izjavio je Detlef Koschny, voditelj NEO odjela u sklopu Europske svemirske agencije.<\/p>\n<p>Osim toga, NASA je nedavno potpisala sporazum o suradnji s <em>FEMA-om (Federal Emergency management Agency)<\/em>, s ciljem stvaranja tzv. <em>Planetary Impact Emergency Response Working Group<\/em>, \u010diji zadatak \u0107e biti stvaranje protokola za slu\u010daj udara asteroida.<\/p>\n<p>Budu\u0107i da ESA ima uhodan sustav pra\u0107enja potencijalno opasnih asteroida, suradnja izme\u0111u PDCO-a i navedene bit \u0107e od iznimne va\u017enosti, posebice ako ESA dobije zeleno svijetlo za projekt <em>AIDA (Asteroid Impact &amp; Deflection Assessment)<\/em>, u koji \u0107e potom vjerojatno biti uklju\u010dena i NASA. (FOTO: ESA)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Drugi va\u017ean projekt koji bi ove godine mogao dobiti odobrenje je izgradnja svemirskog teleskopa <em>The Near-Earth Object Camera (NEOCam)<\/em>, \u010diji zadatak \u0107e biti detaljno promatranje svih objekata koji bi se mogli na\u0107i na Zemljinoj putanji.<\/p>\n<p>Kona\u010dno, ove godine planira se pu\u0161tanje u rad drugog po redu teleskopa iz sustava <em>Asteroid Terrestrial-Impact Last Alert System (ATLAS)<\/em>, smje\u0161tenog na Havajima, koji ima zadatak uo\u010diti opasne asteroide na putu udara u Zemlju. \u201eATLAS je financiran kroz NASA-in <em>NEO Observations Program<\/em>, koji je sad sastavni dio PDCO-a.
